That's All, Folks: ACC Suspends Spring Season, Joins Majority of College Baseball
The Atlantic Coast Conference has suspended all athletic related activities until further notice.

After announcements poured in all day from a plethora of conferences that were shutting down spring collegiate athletics activity, the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) announced at 3 p.m. that it would follow suit.
“The Atlantic Coast Conference has suspended all athletic related activities including all competition, formal and organized practice, recruiting and participation in NCAA championships until further notice. The decision was made following consultation with the league’s presidents and athletic directors to mitigate the further spread of COVID-19.
Just like that, a whirlwind 48 hours of updates and press releases and cancellations has come to a close. The entire college sports landscape, as well as the professional sports world, has ground to an unprecedented halt due to the rapid spread of coronavirus.
Boston College, scheduled to play at North Carolina State this weekend, will instead see its season suspended after just 15 games.
Throughout the day, other conferences around the country starting to shut down their spring seasons. Following in the Ivy League’s footsteps, the Patriot League and Horizon League announced the suspension of their seasons. Thirty minutes later, the SEC followed and by late afternoon, the Pac-12, Big Ten, Big West, and more had issued releases.
Later in the afternoon, Major League Baseball announced that Spring Training would be suspended and that Opening Day would be pushed back two weeks at a minimum. Baseball was the last sport to shut down, as the NBA suspended its season last night while the NHL “paused” earlier today.
As of Thursday afternoon, there have been more than 1,400 reported coronavirus cases and at least 38 deaths in the U.S., according to The New York Times.
